Overfelt High School and Fischer Middle School in San Jose were ordered to shelter-in-place Tuesday afternoon while police investigated reports of shots fired in the area.
East Side Union High School District Superintendent Chris Funk said the high school was told by police in the area to go on lockdown as officers responded.
Police said the shelter-in-place at both campuses were lifted after an hour.
No other information was immediately available.
