Overnight Shooting in Richmond

Shots were heard around 3 a.m.

Richmond police are investigating an overnight shooting that sent one man to the hospital who was in a Porsche Cayenne at S. 7th and Virginia streets.

Investigators say their "shot spotter" technology signaled that multiple shots were being fired in the area at 3 a.m.

They arrived and found the victim slumped over the steering wheel. He was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center.

His condition is unknown. A second car - a white four door sedan - was also at the scene.

An officer tells NBC Bay Area that two people in that car may have been related to the victim and were talking with police. Investigators are still trying to figure out if the shooter was on foot or in a car.
