Palin Weighs in on California Senate Race

GOP Senate candidates meet in SoCal tonight

Carly Fiorina got an endorsement of national note Thursday when Sarah Palin announced on Facebook she is backing the former HP CEO.

"Carly is the Commonsense Conservative that California needs and our country could sure use in these trying times. Most importantly, she’s running for the right reasons. She has an understanding that is sorely lacking in D.C. She’s not a career politician. She’s a businesswoman who has run a major corporation."

The endorsement comes on the day of the final debate between the three candidates vying for votes in the California primary.

Palin did a little more to help Carly's case when she took a shot at the race front-runner Tom Campbell. Palin said Campbell is too much like the target of California Republicans: Sen. Barbara Boxer.

The endorsement was also seen as blow to Chuck DeVore.  DeVore is a tea party favorite and was vying for the tea party darling Palin to endorse him.

DeVore's spokesman Joshua Trevino told the Washington Post:

"Sarah Palin's endorsement brings with it tremendous media attention, but not necessarily votes. Conservative activists in California know and like Chuck DeVore -- and that's our bottom line.  I think the best I can do is point you toward the responses from the conservative base on Palin's Facebook page, and on Twitter: there's a lot of them respectfully but firmly telling the former Governor that she's been misled here. And they're right."

The primary is 32 days away.  Absentee ballots go out next Tuesday.
