Palo Alto Youth Counseling Adds Program Aimed at LGBT Youth

LGBT youth can receive specific counseling in Palo Alto.

Palo Alto-based Adolescent Counseling Services is adding to its curriculum with a program aimed at LGBT youth, according to the Palo Alto Daily News.

The program, called Outlet, is aimed at "at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youths, as well as those who are 'queer and questioning,'" the newspaper reported.

LGBT youth are at higher risk of suicide and substance abuse, the newspaper reported. So, a program aimed at empowering teens who identify as LGBT, is key.

Outlet, the newspaper reported, aims "to empower youths and build safe and accepting communities through support, education and advocacy."
