Pedestrian Killed in Mountain View

Man struck by pickup died on the scene.

A fatal pedestrian accident tied up the commute through Mountain View Tuesday morning -- but all roads were later opened for traffic.

Police had shut down the northbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard at Wright Avenue just off the Central Expressway. The investigation took longer than expected.

Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, the driver of a black pickup accidentally hit and killed a pedestrian along Shoreline.

It's not clear whether the pedestrian was walking alongside the road, trying to cross the street or doing something else.

He died on the scene in the front of someone's driveway. Officers know he was an adult but not much else because he was not carrying identification.

Police said the driver of the truck did stop and has been cooperative.

The police department is looking for a potential witness who reportedly stopped and performed CPR on the pedestrian when officers arrived on the scene, according to Mountain View Police Department Spokeswoman Liz Wylie.
