Person Hit and Killed by Caltrain in San Jose

A person was struck and killed by a train early Tuesday evening in San Jose, according to the San Mateo County Transit District, which operates Caltrain.

Southbound Caltrain No. 156 struck the person at 5:08 p.m. on the tracks between the Capitol and Blossom Hill stations in San Jose.

About 346 passengers were on the train and no one reported any injuries, officials with the transit district said.

VTA buses were providing a bridge for stranded riders, the agency said.

Thirteen people have been killed in 2019 on Caltrain tracks.
