A woman was killed Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward, California Highway Patrol officers said, closing all lanes of traffic in the area for nearly three hours.
Officers said she possibly jumped off the Industrial Parkway overpass or ran into traffic, where several cars struck her.
The accident was reported at about 5:45 a.m. just south of the West Tennyson Road off-ramp. Officers issued a Sig-alert just after 6 a.m. when they blocked all northbound lanes on Highway 880 at Industrial Parkway West.
All lanes reopened about 8:30 a.m.
Traffic was being diverted off to Whipple Road.
