Petaluma Boulevard Reopens, But Some North Bay Roads Still Closed Due to Flooding

Petaluma police said some roads were still closed Friday morning because of flooding.

The southbound exit to Old Redwood Highway/Petaluma Boulevard North, and northbound Stony Point Road was closed between Petaluma Boulevard North and Rainsville Road.

Northbound Petaluma Boulevard North at Corona Road, Industrial Avenue and Auto Center Row and Stony Point Road southbound into Petaluma are open, police said.

The Petaluma police and fire departments responded to 152 storm-related calls Thursday, Lt. Tim Lyons said. Police handled 12 traffic collisions and fire and police personnel helped rescue seven people trapped by high water on Auto Center Drive and Petaluma Boulevard North.

Some homes on Petaluma Boulevard North near Corona Road were flooded and evacuated, and a fallen tree damaged a house on B Street, Lyons said.

Several cars were flooded at the north end of the city when drivers drove into the water or had parked their cars in the flood zone, Lyons said.

The California Highway Patrol said an overturned truck spilled its load of wood debris, closing Todd Road between Stony Point Road and Primrose Avenue south of Santa Rosa. The CHP also said flooding has closed the Petaluma Boulevard North off-ramp from southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Petaluma. Traffic is using East Washington Avenue as an exit, and traffic is backing up from East Washington Avenue across the Cotati Grade to state Highway 116 in Cotati, the CHP said.
