Petaluma police arrested a man on suspicion of stealing a vehicle that was warming up unattended at a residence Monday morning.

The theft in the 400 block of Stuart Drive was reported around 7:05 a.m. An officer saw the stolen vehicle on Ely Boulevard with the suspect who drove at high speeds through residential neighborhoods, police Sgt. Lance Novello said.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Robert Moore of Petaluma, parked the vehicle and ran through an elementary school, Novello said.

Another officer spotted Moore walking away from the school and Moore was found in possession of the vehicle owner's property, burglary tools, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Novello said.
