No New Clues in Missing Petaluma Teen

Investigators plan a 10 a.m. news conference Friday to update the case

The search for a Petaluma woman missing since early New Year's morning in Tahoe has intensified.

Alyssa Byrne, 19, was in Tahoe to attend the Snow Globe, a music festival at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Investigators said late Thursday they have no leads into the circumstances of Byrne's disappearance.  They released two photographs taken on New Year's Eve (see below).

They held a 4 p.m. news conference Thursday to update the case. They said the teen's cell phone has not sent a signal since New Year's eve night at the music festival. The exact time was 12:03 a.m.

They said they are searching every room of the hotel where she was staying. They are also doing a ground and aerial searches of Lake Tahoe. Investigators have asked all casinos to look through surveillance video to see if there is any sightings of Byrne later in the morning.

Her father is now in Tahoe working with police to find her, including passing out fliers in South Lake Tahoe.

β€œIt's moments of utter despair and a lot of hope. It's something I wouldn't wish on any parent. I want everyone to know she's a wonderful kid. We love her and miss her,” her father, Kevin Byrne, told the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department said friends last saw her in the Horizon Casino at a bar between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m. New Year's morning.

Byrne was at the three-day festival with friends when she informed her companions that she planned to take a shuttle back to the hotel at 11:30 p.m. New Year's Eve.

Investigators said late Thursday a friend reported seeing Byrne back at the hotel after midnight and said she was in "good spirits."

Another press briefing was scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.
