Pipe Bombs in Danville Home Force Evacuation

A man was arrested Sunday in Danville for possessing several pipe bombs, police said.

Officers went the 200 block of Amigo Road in response to reports of an argument. When they got there, police discovered the argument was about 36-year-old Eric Dennis, of Danville, who allegedly possessed several pipe bombs.

Police said they found Dennis had three homemade pipe bombs and a small amount of materials that could be used to make more pipe bombs.

Surrounding neighbors were briefly evacuated, and the bombs were then inspected and deemed explosive by the Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad. The squad detonated the pipe bombs on scene in order to safely dispose of them, police said.

Dennis was arrested and booked for possession of a destructive device, and possession of materials to make a destructive device.
