A Southwest Airlines flight headed to Portland, Ore. safely diverted to Oakland International Airport Thursday after an apparent lightning strike, according to airline officials.
Southwest flight 1816 from Los Angeles was departing from LAX when the incident occurred.
The flight landed in Oakland Thursday at 10:41 a.m.
Eighty-one passengers and five crewmembers were moved to another aircraft and continued their flight.
