Plea Deal Possible For Mom Who Fed Daughter Dish Soap

The mom who allegedly fed her daughter dish soap to teach her a lesson is back in court.

The soap treatment could lead to the court treatment -- again.

A 46-year old San Mateo mother who allegedly force-fed her daughter dish soap during an argument over an unpaid cell phone bill may be retried on child abuse charges, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

Shawnie Benedetti was found guilty of inflicting corporal injury on a child in February 2010, but the conviction was overturned on appeal, the newspaper reported. Prosecutors want to punish Benedetti, and will try their luck again -- as long as the daughter, who was then 17, can "endure another trial," the newspaper reported.

Prosecutors offered Benedetti a deal, which she has until Sept. 5 to accept, the newspaper reported.

Benedetti is accused of having a family friend "help tie up her daughter," the newspaper reported. She then punched her, and put "some soap and water in her mouth" because she was acting crazy, the newspaper reported.
