Pleasanton Bicyclist, 58, Dies After Struck by Car

A woman who was killed when a car struck her while she was riding  her bicycle in Pleasanton Sunday afternoon has been identified by the Alameda  County coroner's bureau as 58-year-old Diana Hersevoort.

Hersevoort, of Dublin, was riding alongside her husband, going  north on Foothill Road, about a quarter mile south of Golden Eagle Way, when  both were struck by a car just after 1 p.m., according to Lt. Brian Laurence.

Laurence said the driver of the car, an 18-year-old Pleasanton  resident, was heading north at the time of the crash. He stopped and  cooperated with police.

Hersevoort was thrown from her bicycle and pronounced dead at the  scene, while her husband was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered  life-threatening, Laurence said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Pleasanton  police at (925) 931-5100.
