Pleasanton Deaths Ruled Murder-Suicide

Police say Pleasanton mother mudered her 13-year-old daughter and then commmitted suicide.

The Pleasanton Police Department has concluded the May 7 shooting deaths of a mother and daughter were a murder-suicide.

“Investigators have determined that Amy Freeman-Burton shot and killed her daughter, Ainsley Freeman, and then shot and killed herself,” police said in statement on Friday. “This was determined by a myriad of evidence, including physical and forensic evidence.”

Police did not reveal a motive for the deaths, and are expected to hold a news conference at 2 p.m. Friday.

Christopher Burton arrived home on May 7 to find his wife, 37, and step-daughter, 13, shot in their Pleasanton home. When he found them, he called the police about 6 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Freeman-Burton dead and Ainsley the victim of a gunshot wound to the head.

Ainsley, a student at Hart Middle School, died later at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
