A suspect is in custody after police say the used a stolen vehicle in multiple hit-and-run collisions Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco.
The incident started just before 2 p.m. and was reported across the city's Tenderloin and Mid-Market areas. After foot patrol officers determined the vehicle to be stolen, they approached just outside the Tenderloin police station.
In it, the driver can be seen crashing into a pole, then trying to back up and striking at least two other vehicles in the process. Police say a 20-year-old pedestrian was struck on the sidewalk when the suspect attempted to escape.
The vehicle continued eastbound on Eddy Street and struck and injured another pedestrian in a crosswalk at Taylor Street then continued down Eddy and collided with two vehicles at Fifth and Market streets, injuring two more people, police said.
The suspect continued to drive to Fifth and Clara streets, where she collided with another vehicle, injuring one person there then continued to Sixth and Clara, where she hit another vehicle and injured an occupant, police said.
Officers caught the suspect at Sixth and Clara and transported her to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The pedestrian hit at the Taylor crosswalk is an 80-year-old man and is suffering from life-threatening injuries, police said.
Other injuries were minor.
