    Police Arrest Suspect in Connection With Mountain View Trail Assault

    A suspect has been arrested in connection with a violent assault on the Stevens Creek Trail that left a woman seriously injured. Michael Wendy Adonis, 29 was taken into custody Friday after officers identified Adonis matching the description of the suspect.

    Mountain View police have arrested a suspect in a violent assault on the Stevens Creek Trail that left a woman seriously injured Monday, Feb. 25.

    Police took Michael Wendy Adonis, 29, into custody Friday after they responded to reports of a battery at a home on Santa Clara Avenue and found that Adonis and his roommate had gotten into a fight.

    Officers identified Adonis as a man matching the descript of a suspect who allegedly assaulted a woman visiting from Massachusetts near the bridge to Creekside Park just before 10 p.m. last Monday. The suspect, who introduced himself as Jerry, approached her from behind and attempted to interact with her.

    The woman said she refused and the suspect then grabbed her and pushed her into the bushes before punching her multiple times in the face, police said.

    People walking along the trail spotted him and yelled at him. The woman then reportedly bit him while he tried to muffle her screams. Police said Adonis' hand had bite marks that consistent with what the victim described.

    The victim was able to escape the suspect and was treated for serious injuries to her face.

    Adonis was arrested for subsequently arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, criminal threats, assault with intent to commit mayhem or rape, unlawfully damaging a wireless communication device, and battery, according to Mountain View police.

    It wasn't immediately clear whether he had legal representations.
