Police Investigate Death of UC Berkeley Graduate

22 year old Konstantin Tomashevsky was found shortly after 5AM Cinco de Mayo. He was lying 10 feet from the base of an escalator at the Civic Center BART station near the UN Plaza in San Francisco. BART police lieutenant Andy Alkire says Tomashevsky was unconcious but breathing. He had no obvious signs of trauma or bruising...only a small cut to the back of his head.

"His injuries were very extensive. The doctors at SFGH determined he had massive internal injuries to his head and his body and some broken bones in his legs," said Alkire. Tomashevsky was pronounced dead a short time later.

The last known video of Tomashevsky was recorded about 320AM. Officers say he was seen alone, peering through the glass down an elevator shaft at the station.

Officers say it doesn't appear Tomashevsky was robbed or assaulted. They don't know whether he had drugs or alcohol in his system.

Tomashevsky graduated from Cal with a degree in Applied Math. He won the 2008 honorable mention in the Matthew Lyon photography contest.  His last Facebook post was April 15th, when he put up a link to a Youtube video.
