    San Jose detectives search for clues near Enfield Way and Lyndale Avenue after a man was shot dead. (April 17, 2016)

    Several suspects approached a man Saturday evening in a residential neighborhood in San Jose and shot him dead before fleeing in a car, police said.

    The shooting occurred on 1000 block of Lyndale Avenue, near Story Road, just before 7 p.m. Police said they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries when officers arrived on scene.

    The man was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. This marks the city's 12th homicide of the year. 

    Police initially reported the incident as a drive-by shooting. 

    Suspect and vehicle descriptions were not immediately available.

    An investigation is ongoing.
