Police Recover More Than 100 Stolen Bikes

After searching the home of an 18-year-old San Francisco man, police were led to two storage lockers full of stolen bicycles.

Police have recovered 114 stolen bicycles they say they found after searching the home and storage lockers of an 18-year-old San Francisco man.

San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza says when officers went to the home of Irving Sanchez on May 17 they found eight stolen bicycles. Based on evidence they found at the home, Esparza says police later searched two storage lockers in Oakland that Sanchez was renting and found 106 more stolen bicycles.

Sanchez was taken into custody on suspicion of numerous felony counts of receiving stolen property, though investigators haven't said if they believe he stole the bikes himself.

So far, Sanchez has not been charged in the case. A spokeswoman for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office says he was released from custody Monday pending further investigation.
