    A man found dead along Willow Pass Road in Concord on Wednesday had been hit by a vehicle that fled the area, police said Thursday.

    The man was identified as Frank Fernandez, 28, of Bay Point, according to police.

    He was found at about 12:20 p.m. along a fence bordering the Concord Naval Weapons Station on Willow Pass Road between Lynwood Drive and the Kinne Bridge overcrossing.

    Police are investigating his death as a hit-and-run, suspected to have happened between 2:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. when he was found, police said.

    No description of the suspect vehicle was immediately available.
