Police are seeking a man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a female victim Tuesday morning in El Cerrito.
The incident occurred at about 6:40 a.m. near Stockton Avenue and Balra Drive, according to police.
The victim told officers that a man grabbed her and tried to sexually assault her. When she screamed, however, she caught the attention of several residents, and the suspect fled on foot.
After setting up a perimeter and with the help of a police K-9 unit, officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
He was described as a black man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s and was wearing dark clothing, police said.
Police are asking any residents in the area who may have surveillance video to review the footage for anyone walking in the area during the morning hours. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police at (510) 215-4400 or at investigations@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us.
