Gilroy police are searching for a man who tried to steal a speaker from a department store by shoving it under his coat last month.

On Jan. 31, a man walked into the department store Kohl's, located at 6765 Camino Arroyo, according to police. He then hid a small Jambox speaker in his coat before leaving the store without paying, police said.

Store employees tried to speak to the man, but he fled on foot and left behind his coat and the stolen speakers, according to police.

A gold-colored Toyota was seen following the suspect and police believe he may be affiliated with the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Gilroy police at (408) 846-0350.
