A SWAT team took a burglary suspect into custody Monday after a tense standoff outside a Palo Alto home.
Officers surrounded the home in the 900 Block of Elsinore Drive around 3 p.m. to catch the suspect who was hiding inside for hours. The house belongs to an elderly woman, who is safe.
The suspect was originally seen in the backyard of a home in the 900 block of Oregon Avenue. He fled from officers and entered the home on Elsinore Drive. Palo Alto police tweeted at 5: 22 p.m. that they had arrested the suspect.
