Woman Tries To Snatch Toddler: SJPD

Stranger allegedly tries to lure toddler with candy

A San Jose woman is behind bars - accused of trying to snatch a 3-year-old girl out of her mother's arms.

San Jose police said the toddler and her teenage sister were playing outside their home on Park Avenue just before 9 p.m. Monday.

That's when 26-year-old Mayra Flores allegedly walked by and tried to coax the toddler into going away with her - by offering the child candy.

The two girls ran inside their home, but Flores allegedly followed them inside and tried to pull the toddler out of her mother's arms.

The mother says she managed to fight Flores off and then called 911.

Flores was arrested a few blocks away.

She was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of  attempted kidnapping and burglary with bail set at $200,000.    No one was injured in the incident
