A post-anthem proposal at Wednesday's San Francisco Giants game may have been the first in the team's history.
When Bay Area performer Caitlin McGinty joined Ellen Toscano and Shawna McNulty at the baseball field in AT&T Park to sing the anthem -- just like the trio has done many times in the past -- little did she know that her boyfriend was going to pop the question.
Minutes after the anthem ended, Toscano and McNulty stepped back, and McGinty's boyfriend Richie Beanan got down on his knees, asking her to marry him.
"You could hear a lot of 'oohs' and 'aahs' in the crowd -- Caitlin kind of got a little shaky and she said 'yes,'" said Becky Biniek, who manages social media for the Giants. "The crowd reaction was great."
The Giants tweeted out pictures from the proposal, saying: "Might be the 1st anthem performance/marriage proposal in #SFGiants history."
"Nobody could remember if this has happened before," Biniek said. "Probably not in San Francisco."

A lot of people propose during the Kiss Cam and the scoreboard, but a post-anthem proposal on the baseball field is pretty unique, Biniek said. "We can't make a habit of it but we thought it would be fun to do this on a game day in summer, " she said.
Biniek said McNulty helped to set up the surprise, making sure McGinty had no idea about their plan.
"It's cool we could do it -- it is one of the most important moments of your life," she said.
