Public's Help Sought to Solve Animal Cruelty Incident

The death of a dog that was found severely burned is being investigated by Salinas Animal Services, which is asking the public for any information that will help identify a suspect in the animal cruelty case.

The dog was reported Aug. 2 in an East Salinas neighborhood. An officer located the medium-sized dog, which was determined to be a female of about 35 pounds, with red/brownish fur.

But its condition was too severe to determine its age or breed and there was no microchip or collar for identification. Investigators say its condition indicated it had been dead for several days.

Salinas Animal Services noted that while the dog was found in East Salinas, it could have come from elsewhere.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Salinas Animal Services at 831-758-7031.
