There is some intriguing talent available in the upcoming NFL supplemental Draft. Players eligible include a trio of defensive backs in Western Michigan’s Sam Beal, Virginia Tech’s Adonis Alexander and Mississippi State’s Brandon Bryant.
Indications are the Raiders may consider participating in the draft.
Chase Goodbread of NFL.com reported this week that the Raiders were on hand for Bryant’s workout for scouts from 14 NF teams.
The supplemental draft is scheduled for July 11. If the Raiders decide to select a player, they’d lose a pick in the regular draft in 2019. For example, if Oakland decides to select Bryant in the third round of the supplemental selection process, it would lose a third-round pick in the spring of 2019.
Bryant, 6 feet and 215 pounds, played three seasons at Mississippi State and had five interceptions and 157 tackles. He was a three-year starter at safety.
Bryant became eligible for the supplemental draft after he was held out of spring practice for academic reasons, and then declared he would enter the draft.
Said Bryant, after his workout for the NFL teams: “Wherever I get drafted or if it’s as a free agent, I just need an opportunity and I’ll make the most of it.”
