“Rainbow Girls” Gang Targeting High End Union Square Shops

A shoplifting crew includes transgender people, police say.

The formula is the same: a group of girls enter a clothing store, begin grabbing merchandise -- and then leave without paying.

This is the calling card of the Rainbow Girls gang, according to reports.

This "gang of high-end fashion thieves" made away with a purse, a scarf, and two wallets on Tuesday. Of the six suspects, three were transgender women, police reported to the San Francisco Examiner.

The Rainbow Girls "target Union Square shops," the newspaper reported. "It's pretty much what every other store is going through," a store manager told the newspaper.

The shoplifters, in their late teens and early 20s, dress in bright colors and dye their hair similarly, the newspaper reported.
