Prosecutors have charged an elderly man with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly shot at a doctor Wednesday at a Daly City medical center where he had been a patient.
Daly City resident Raymond Iwase, 84, faces the charges in addition to enhancements for premeditated and deliberate attempted murder, for discharging a firearm and for committing serious felonies, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
Iwase is set to be arraigned on the charges in a Redwood City courtroom Friday afternoon.
The arraignment comes two days after Iwase entered the medical office building at 1500 Southgate Ave. and allegedly shot at a doctor working there, according to police.
No one was injured by the gunfire.
Someone inside the building called 911 and reported hearing a gunshot on the second floor around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. People in the building were either evacuated or told to shelter in place while officers searched for a suspect.
Police said witnesses at the scene identified Iwase as the suspected gunman.

He was arrested at his home on Plymouth Circle several hours later on suspicion of attempted murder and was taken to county jail in Redwood City. Investigators recovered a gun and ammunition at the home, according to police.
Prosecutors were not immediately available to comment on a possible motive for the shooting.
