Red Bull Music Academy Brings 2 Weeks of Radio to San Francisco

Red Bull Music Academy will relaunch its radio arm and broadcast live from San Francisco over the next two weeks.

According to a press release, RBMA Radio has set up shop in the Mission District to air 120 hours of programming from Feb. 25 to March 11. Shows will be both live and pre-recorded, with the latter focused on the history and legacy of Bay Area music. Local guests like rappers IAMSU and Tajai (Souls of Mischief), ambient artist Tycho and psychedelic rock band Wooden Shjips will appear live in the studio, which was custom built by Valencia Street audio shop Dijital Fix. Shows will air daily from 2 to 10 p.m.

Four public concerts will be associated with the event, a live performance from Oakland composer Holly Hearndon (March 1), a Night of Improvised Round Robin Duets from jazz and electronic artists (March 4), a tribute to all forms of bass music (March 6) and a closing event with SF's popular queer DJ collective Honey Soundsystem. The venues have not yet been announced.

Red Bull Music Academy travels the world to host music events and training sessions for up-and-coming DJs and artists. The stop in San Francisco also includes live sets, interviews and discussions that will be invite-only.
