Rep. Mike Honda Holds Community Meeting in Fremont on President Obama's Executive Action on Immigration

U.S. Rep. Mike Honda (D-San Jose) held a community meeting Saturday to discuss the president's executive action on immigration.

President Obama ordered deportation deferrals for more than 4 million undocumented immigrants in January. But this week, a Texas judge put a hold on that order--and that has a lot of people confused and worried.

Congressman Honda spent the day in Fremont, along with other community leaders, encouraging those who fall under the order to still apply for documents.

"We want them to have the right information and be prepared for the eventuality of moving forward," Honda said. "And that means they'll have to have the right documents prepared."

On Monday, the Department of Justice plans to ask a higher court to stay the Texas ruling.

The president's spokesman said the federal government is also pursuing a separate, full appeal of the judge's ruling.
