Richmond Church Foreclosure

Tonight, a U.S Congressman is stepping in to help an East Bay church that was foreclosed on late last year in November.

Congressman George Miller joined members of Bible Way Community Church in Richmond this afternoon.

The bank foreclosed on the building in November 2010, according to a bank spokesman.

Church pastor Sidney Keys, his mother and his wife were arrested for refusing to leave the property. They claim they are victims of an illegal loan.

Today, Keys told members of the community he will not give up on saving the church.

Torrey Pines Bank is the lender who foreclosed on the church.
It released a statement saying it worked with the church for a year to resolve this unfortunate situation.

The statement went on to say that because this situation might end up in court, there will be no further comment.
