Richmond Ospreys on Live Stream Tending to First Egg Laid This Season

A pair of ospreys featured on a continuous live-stream camera in Richmond laid their first egg of the nesting season on Sunday, according to the Golden Gate Audubon Society.

Rosie the osprey, featured with her mate Richmond at SFBayOspreys.org, laid the egg at 4:12 p.m. The pair of birds has been together for three seasons and has laid three eggs in the past two seasons.

It is expected for Rosie to do most of the incubation for her eggs, which can last from 36-42 days. The birds are expected to fortify their nest during that time. Richmond is expected be the busier hunter for fish among the two.

The society invites anyone watching the pair of live-stream cameras to report fish the birds bring back or other manmade items brought to the nest.
