Three men skipped their breakfast and decided instead to steal an ATM from a Peninsula donut shop early Monday morning.

The armed robbery occurred around 5 a.m. at The Original Royal Donut shop in Burlingame, police said.

While two men removed the ATM and carried it out of the store, the remaining suspect hopped the counter, pulled out a gun and pushed the employee into a back room, according to police.

A fight ensued and the suspect eventually ditched the gun for an ice scooper.

The gun was later determined to be fake. Police said all three suspects fled the scene and remain at large.

The employee was not injured, they said.
