Rocky Fire Prompts Evacuations in Lake County, Grows to 3,000 Acres

A fast-growing wildfire has prompted evacuation in Lake County, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters said the blaze, which is being called the Rocky Fire, had grown to 3,000 acres late Wednesday. The fire is burning near Morgan Valley Road and Rocky Creek Road, east of Lower Lake.

Evacuations have been ordered for the north side of Morgan Valley Road for five miles east of Bonham Road, Cal Fire said. There are about 500 evacuees, according to Cal Fire.

An evacuation center has been set up at the Highland Senior Center, located at 3245 Bower Road, in Clearlake. An animal evacuation center has also opened at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway, Lower Lake.

No information was immediately available late Wednesday.
