“Rude Waiter” Restaurant Sam Wo to Reopen in New Location

Sam Wo, the Chinatown restaurant once known for the charm of its rude wait service that shut down in 2012, will reopen in a new space this summer.

According to Tablehopper, Sam Wo has taken over the former Anna Bakery space at 715 Clay Street in San Francisco and hopes to open in July as Sam Wo Restaurant and Bakery. And while initial hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., owners told the newsletter there are hopes to add late night hours of 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. as well.

The original Sam Wo location stood for 100 years until shutting down in 2012, the result of health department violations including "rodent activity."
