SF Giants Holding Evacuation Drill at AT&T Park on Saturday

The San Francisco Giants are planning for a potential disaster by holding an evacuation drill on Saturday at AT&T Park.

The drill is taking place at 9 a.m. Saturday at the team's home ballpark at Third and King streets, with Giants front office and security staff, game day staff, local law enforcement and ballpark vendors all taking part.

The Giants themselves are away this weekend, playing a series in Southern California against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The drill is part of a collaboration with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services to ensure fan safety in the event of a large-scale emergency during a game or other event at the ballpark.

The team says it will use the drill to evaluate internal operations and communications along with its evacuation plans and procedures.

After winning two World Series championships in the previous three years, the Giants have had a disappointing 2013 season. Going into Friday's game, the team is in last place in the National League West division with a record of 66-81.
