SF Nightclub Shut Down After Cop Hurt in Shooting

A nightclub in San Francisco's Mission District must shut its doors by order of the City's Entertainment Commission after a veteran cop was hurt in a shooting outside the club early Saturday morning.

The officer was shot in the foot while he and two recruits tried to break up a fight between two women at about 1:30 a.m. outside El Rincon on 16th and Harrison streets in the Mission. About four or five gunshots were reported.

The officer was in stable condition Saturday morning, reported Bay City News.

A dark green Chevrolet Camaro was seen leaving the area, and just
minutes after the shooting a vehicle matching the description was stopped at 17th and Potrero Streets. Police questioned the two people who were in the car but no arrests were made, San Francisco police Lt. Lyn Tomika said.

After the shooting police Cmdr. Kitt Crenshaw talked to the
city's Entertainment Commission, which is issued a suspension notice to the club effective tonight.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the
Police Department's confidential tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with the key word SFPD in the text field, followed by the message.
