San Francisco Port Commissioner Cited for Violating Building Permit: Report

Add another building permit violation for San Francisco Port Commissioner Mel Murphy.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Murphy has been cited for illegally reinstalling parking equipment in a Mission District condo that he had been told to remove.

This is the fourth time in about two years that Murphy has either violated terms of a permit or failed to pay permit fees, according to the Chronicle.

A year ago, a home Murphy was tripling in size in Twin Peaks collapsed. A review of the collapse discovered the construction was not following details of a plan.

Murphy also is friends with Mayor Ed Lee.

Critics say the new violation is proof that the mayor Murphy -- a former president of the Building Inspection Commission, which is supposed to catch the kind of wrongdoing the commissioner is committing -- has got to go.

Murphy declined to comment to the newspaper.
