SFO Expect 130,000 Passengers Friday

Big day for travel is Friday

If you're flying out of SFO on Friday, might as well arrive early. There's going to be a line.

A total of 11.7 million Californians will be traveling sometime during the holidays this year, according to the American Automobile Association. That's an increase of nearly 2 percent.

950,000 of those California residents will board a plane, and Friday is San Francisco International Airport's peak day, according to the San Francisco Appeal online newspaper.

Oakland, by contrast, is expecting "business as usual," a spokesman said. Oakland International Airport has seen a 10 percent increase in overall passenger loads, but holiday travel is spread out over a 19-day period, according to officials.

In all, more than 400,000 Californians will travel by a method other than a car, according to the AAA.
