The hype is over, now comes the reality of the new Terminal 2 at SFO.
It opened for flight Thursday morning.
The first departures from the new $383 million 640,000-square-foot terminal went off without a hitch at 6 a.m., when two American Airlines flights took off for Miami and Dallas.
An hour later, Virgin America joined the party with a 7 a.m. departure.
Then came the first arrivals.
T2, which is what the locals call it, features Virginesque ambient lighting, play areas for kids, hydration stations and local food vendors.
