SJ Driver Dies in Crash Near Oak Hill Cemetery

Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision in San Jose this morning. At about 2 a.m., officers responded to the vicinity of Monterey Highway and Curtner Avenue, near Oak Hill Memorial Park, on a report of a traffic collision.

Upon arrival, police located a male driver behind the wheel of a vehicle with major damage. The driver of the vehicle was suffering from life-threatening injuries when medical personnel arrived, police said. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision at 2:12 a.m., police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police said the vehicle was traveling southbound on Monterey Highway at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Police have not released whether alcohol or drugs had a factor in the collision.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family members, police said.

Detectives from the San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate the collision.
