A 55-year-old San Jose man is now facing murder and child endangerment charges after a bizarre crash in San Jose last week.

Investigators say Rickey Lartigue was driving drunk, with two small children, when he hit and killed a man walking behind the car.

They say Lartigue stopped, reversed and ran the victim over on Leeward Drive.

The victim, 43-year-old Willy Umali, was pronounced dead the next day.

Police say they don’t believe that Lartigue targeted Umali in this case.

Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office decided to file a murder charge based on Lartigue's past convictions, according to police.

Umali is now classified by San Jose police as the city’s 32nd homicide victim of 2013.
