Three to be Charged in SJ Karaoke Homicide

Police noted this is the 8th gang-related fatal shooting this year.

Three teenagers are scheduled to be charged Tuesday following a fatal karaoke bar shooting  in San Jose's 18th homicide this year.

Police also identified the victim of the Friday shooting as 25-year-old Thai Vu of Milpitas. They noted that this killing became the 8th gang-related fatal shooting this year.

San Jose Police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said Jimmy Ho and Andy Ho, both 18, and Johnny Le, 19, were booked into Santa Clara County Jail following the shooting death of Vu outside Happioke, a karaoke bar in the 2100 block of Senter Road.

Originally, police said all three suspects were from Union City. On Monday, police corrected where the suspects live: Jimmy Ho is from Fremont, Johnny Le is from San Jose, and Andy Ho is from Union City.

Jimmy Ho and Johnny Le were booked on homicide charges, Dwyer said, and Andy Ho was booked in connection with being an accessory. Police did not release photos of the suspects, saying they needed more time to conduct photographic line-ups with witnesses.

Police were first called to the karaoke bar at 2:34 a.m. Friday. There, they found Vu lying in the parking lot suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.

Witnesses described the suspects to police, who spotted their getaway car and conducted a "high-risk car stop," arresting the trio at King Road in East San Jose.

A witness previously told NBC Bay Area that there was a fight outside the bar before the shooting, and Dwyer confirmed that police are looking into some type of "altercation" that might have happened inside the bar first.
