SJPD Arrest Man in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park Stabbing

San Jose made an arrest in the seventh homicide of the year

San Jose police said on Friday that they arrested a 20-year-old man in the stabbing death of someone he knew and whose body was found Wednesday just yards from the main entrance into Guadalupe Oak Grove Park .

Sgt. Jason Dwyer said Vincent Gallegos was arrested in the connection of the stabbing death of Errick Wright, 27. He said the two knew each other, but didn't elaborate on the relationship. He did say, however, that the death was not gang related. Wright's death was the seventh of the year.

Wright's death was unusual because his body was found about 4 p.m. in Almaden Valley, a typically quiet and affluent part of the city, which has seen a recent spike in home invasions and break-ins.

John Chovanec and his daughter, Megan, watched from their Almaden Valley home, not quite believing what they were seeing.  They spoke with NBC Bay Area  on Thursday evening.

"It's scary. You have a 17-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son," Chovanec said. "Apparently it's a young teen or someone in their early 20s to see someone that young be involved or be murdered literally 100 yards from your house, it's really pretty scary."
