A teenage boy who was wounded in a drive-by shooting in front of an East San Jose school Tuesday night should live, police said, and investigators are trying to figure out if it was gang related.
Just before 8 p.m., the boy, believed to be in his late teens, was walking by Clyde L. Fischer Middle School on Hopkins Avenue when he was shot at least once by someone in a passing light-colored SUV, police said.He was taken to the hospital and was treated for injuries.
Neither the vehicle nor any suspects have been found.

On Wednesday, all was quiet at the middle school close to the shooting scene.
San Jose police officer Albert Morales told NBC Bay Area that there are some gang overtones in the area.
He said the department's metro unit is now targeting gang cimre with 40 officer, including 32 on patrol. You can add to that, additional gang supression units paid for by state and federal funds.

San Jose police have identified more than 9,000 admitted gang members.
Police said one in four homes in the area around Fischer Middle School has some association with gangs.
Enrique Flores with the group East Side Heroes says it is a tug of war, but he see progress. .
"We’re starting to develop a habit, a willingness of the young people to turn in their rags, their gang colors, their Cortez shoes, things that they’re using now that are a risk now," Flores said.
