SJPD Look For Parolee Who Gave Them Slip

San Jose police are looking for Anthony Sanchez, a 32-year-old man from San Jose, who was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on a probation violation.

But when officers handcuffed him and put him in an unmarked police van, Sanchez slipped off the cuffs when an officer became distracted with paperwork. Police said he slid the handcuffs off his body by bringing his hands from the back of his body to the front.

He then jumped into the driver’s seat of the van and drove off, police said. The van was found around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Almaden Expressway and Wren Drive.

Neighbors are in shock of how the suspect escaped.

Police said said no weapons were inside the van when it was taken and all of the city property in the van was accounted for.

Sanchez is 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 275 pounds.
