San Jose Police Officer Injured in Crash

A San Jose police officer was injured in a car crash early Wednesday morning, according to the police department.

The collision involving the police cruiser and an SUV occurred on Tully and King Roads around 2 a.m. and shut down the intersection for several hours.

The officer was transported to the hospital, treated and later released, according to police. No one else involved in the crash was transported to the hospital.

The man behind the wheel of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to police. He was given a citation for running a red light.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
