Sacred Heart Community Service 5,000 Turkeys Short of Goal

Three days to Thanksgiving and thousands of turkeys short.

Families in need lined up Monday morning outside Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose to collect turkeys for thier holiday meals.

Organizers say they need about 7,000 turkeys and have so far only collected about 2,000. They say that even though the economy is getting better, they are still seeing an urgent need for help.

"About the same number of families, but they show up earlier," Sacred Heart's Anna Sutton said. "You know, it's more desperate, there's more crisis involved, and we found that families can't risk not having this service here for them."
